As the second round of the GOtv Shield gets underway on Friday, 29 July one match has been called off, leaving 15 on the cards.
The match pitting Ushuru FC and Timsales FC will not go on as planned on Sunday 31 July, following a confirmation from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) as it is affected by an appeal by Posta Rangers, who were Timsales’ opponents in the first leg.
Posta Rangers beat Timsales 4 – 1 in the clash but were disqualified for allegedly using an ineligible player – John Nairuka, who the federation says had not yet been registered by the time he was picked for the match.
“Kindly note that the match between Timsales and Ushuru has been postponed awaiting Posta Rangers’ appeal.
“Posta Rangers were disqualified from the ongoing GOtv tournament for fielding an ineligible player (John Nairuka), whose transfer from Ulinzi Stars had not been okayed by the federation by the time of taking to the field of play in the club’s round 64 fixture against Timsales,” the statement from the federation read.
