Posta Rangers forward Timothy Otieno, who is on loan from the Sportpesa Premier League (SPL) champions Gor Mahia has been named the Sportpesa/SJAK Player of the Month for February after registering a good start to his life with the Mailmen.

The striker netted three goals in the month of February to place himself high among his contemporaries and in a vote that pitted him against Muhoroni Youth FC’s Wycliffe Ochomo and Mathare United’s Obadiah Ndege, he came out tops.

For his performance in the month, the striker was the first beneficiary of the improved perks from the betting company, Sportpesa, receiving Kshs 100,000, as opposed to the 50,000 awards last year.

He also took home a 43 – inch LG television courtesy of the partnership with LG and he was not the only winner, his club also got Kshs 50,000 for his exploits.

In his acceptance comments, the striker lauded his team mates and coaches for good company and support, which he said pushed him do repay the faith and assured to work even harder in the coming matches.

“I am surprised to be considered for this award though I know I performed well in a month that also had other good performers. I want to thank my team mates and coaches for the award. Their support and trust in me is what has made this possible and I will continue working hard.
