Sony Sugar goalkeeper Timothy Odhiambo’s first season in the premier league is getting on just fine after the youngster was voted the August 2016 KPL Fans’ Player of the Month.
The keeper was among the five nominated for the award and he beat Western Stima’s Kenneth Muguna, Sofapaka’s Noah Abich, Kakamega Homeboyz’s Andrew Murunga and Chemelil Sugar defender Willis Ouma to bag the award.
In winning the monthly accolade, Odhiambo bacame the second goalkeeper to ever win the award.
He bagged a personalized trophy for his win and Kshs 10,000 to accompany it.
Speaking after picking the award, the keeper thanked his team mates for their support, stating that it was the reason he did well and added that the award gives him the impetus to gun for more.
“I am thankful for the award; obviously it is a big motivation to win this award but I recognize that I did not do it all alone. It came with great support from my team mates and it makes me want to work even harder for the team,” he said.
Sony Sugar will next be taking on Thika United in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) on Sunday 25 September.
