Bastian Schweinsteiger is set for the Old Trafford exit after he was told he can leave the club by manager Jose Mourinho, the Daily Mail is reporting.
The Germany captain is the biggest name on the chopping block as Mourinho is believed to have told nine players they have no future at Manchester United and can either leave permanently or on loan or worse still, be relegated to the U21s.
According to the report, all nine players have already been briefed by the former Chelsea boss and they all trained with the U21s on Thursday, and not the first team.
It is also now unlikely that any of them will be involved in this weekend’s friendly against Turkish giants Galatasaray.
The list is reported to also include Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Will Keane, Andreas Pereira, James Wilson, Adnan Janusaj, Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair.
While the other players are expected to leave permanently, the trio of Pereira, Wilson and Keane have been advised to go out on loan as they will be needed in the future.
Wilson is reported to have met with Mourinho before the tour and was told he is part of United’s long-term plans, with the door left open for him to stay and play in the Under 21 side, but 12 clubs are believed to shown interest in taking him on.
