NFF axe Tijani Babangida from Super Eagles

Former Nigeria international, Tijani Babangida has been relieved of his duties as the Personal Assistant to Super Eagles’ Coach, Sunday Oliseh.

The sacking of Babangida was part of the numerous decisions arrived at the recently held Executive Committee meeting of the NFF which took place in Abuja.

A part of the communiqué arrived at stated “The immediate disengagement of Mr. Tijjani Babangida as Personal Assistant to Super Eagles’ Coach, Sunday Oliseh, as recommended by the Technical and Development Committee, was unanimously approved and General Secretary was therefore mandated to follow the due process in effecting his disengagement.”

The NFF was silent on whether Babangida will be replaced or whether Oliseh will have to continue his duties without a PA; which in the first time is alien to the national team.

Babangida was appointed in August 2015 as part of the back room staff for Oliseh. Though no reason was officially adduced for the sacking of Babangida, gathered that lean purse of the NFF may have formed a major reason for the sacking.

Babangida until his sacking was understood to be on a N.6m monthly salary/
