Ikechukwu Uche: I want to play for Nigeria again

Uche--Ik Tigres UANL of Mexico forward Ikechukwu Uche has declared his readiness to return to the Super Eagles fold after a long absence from the national team. 

The 32-year-old is currently on loan with Spanish side Malaga has made 46 appearance for Nigeria so far, scoring 19 goals but he is not ready for retirement just yet.

“As long as I remain active, I would like to play for my country,” Uche said in an interview.

“For who ever is charge of the national team, if they need me – I’ll always make myself available but sometimes it is good to give the young ones a chance too but it depends on who ever is in charge.”

The former Granada star who has enjoyed a great club career rates Nigeria’s 2013 African Nations Cup triumph as the biggest moment of his career so far.

“The best moment of my career so far is winning the African Nations Cup with Nigeria.

“It ever really kicks in until your playing career is over. That’s when you look back and the memory brings you joy,” he added.

Nigeria has been grouped alongside Algeria, Zambia, and Cameroon for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
