Barclays Premier League side Arsenal has reached a deal with J-League club Sanfrecce Hiroshima to sign the 21-year-old Japanese striker Takuma Asano.
Asano, who is the second signing for Arsenal in the current window after Swiss Granit Xhaka, made his full international debut for Japan last August and has since gone on to make five appearances for his country.
The forward is expected to be named in the nation’s squad for the Rio Olympics later this summer and Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, confirming the deal, said the striker is one for the future.
“Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future. He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years.” He said.
Takuma’s transfer is subject to the completion of a medical but he is expected to train with Arsenal’s first-team squad.
