SWAG, in its 40th edition of the Sports Writers Association Awards of Ghana, has chosen Columbus Crew defender Harrison Afful as the winner.
The MLS based player won ahead of other Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew.
Afful produced an assist in the impressive 2-2 draw with Germany in the 2014 Fifa World Cup group stage.
The 29-year-old former Asante Kotoko player has also played for Esperance and Feyenoord.
Jennifer Cudjoe won the Black Queens award for the Female Footballer of the Year, while Joseph Odartei Lamptey was named the Referee of the Year.
The founder of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana and former Black Stars defender Anthony Baffoe, was awarded for his contribution to grassroots football in the country.
