Arsenal have been told by former Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce to attempt a deal for the transfer of Manchester City star Yaya Toure this summer.

The 32-year-old Ivorian is widely tipped to leave City this summer with Pep Guardiola who sold him while in charge at Barcelona set to arrive the Etihad in replacement for outgoing Manuel Pellegrini.

The Ivory Coast international is known to have a strained relationship with the former Barcelona manager and he’s unlikely to want to stick around.

And former West Ham and City man Pearce thinks that Toure would give Arsenal a different dimension.

“On his day, Yaya Toure is outstanding. Arsenal need an old head within the team.

“Petr Cech has proved a fantastic success this year at Arsenal, and to have a player like Toure at the centre of midfield, as that holding type of player, I think he’d give one or two of the youngsters a bit of a lift.

“I think he’d be a good signing for them.”Pearce told Talksport

Arsenal have plenty of flair in midfield, but they have faltered in the title race due to their lack of presence and power, and Pearce believes the Man City powerhouse would be a good signing for the north Londoners.
