Nigerian youngster Kelechi Iheanacho has hailed outgoing Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini and the fans following a successful debut season at the club.
The 19-year-old was drafted to the senior team by the Chilean manager and he excelled in pre-season scoring against AC Milan and Roma.
Pellegrini showed faith in him by offloading Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko to Inter Milan and AS Roma on loan respectively and Iheanacho repaid that faith by scoring 14 times in all competitions for the Citizens including the only goal on the final day of the Premier League season against Swansea which helped City secure Champions League qualification.
”Huge thanks to Manuel Pellegrini. Thanks you for believing in me. I wish you the very best for the future,” he wrote on his official twitter account.
Iheanacho went on to praise the fans who have been so supportive of him and even sing out his name during games.
”Thanks you to all the @MCFC fans for all your support. You made my first season a fantastic one. Have a great summer.”
Iheanacho joined Manchester City in 2013 after a successful FIFA U-17 World Cup where he emerged as the Best Player of the competition.
