The South Africa U17 national team progresses to the final of the COSAFA U17 tournament after beating Kenya U17 4 – 0 in the semi final clash staged at Stade Francois Xavier on Friday 29 July.
South Africa missed a key man in Mswati Mavuso who was on a red card from the last group game but still were comfortable, leading from as early as the tenth minute, with Mjabulise Mkhize giving South Africa U17 the lead with a shot to the right that beat Kenya keeper George Ouma.
Luke le Roux scored the second for the South Africans on the 29th minute with a free kick and seven minutes later a mistake from the Kenya goalie gifted Lina Mchilizeli easy possession from a goal kick.
Andreas Spiers, the Kenya head coach did a first change, sending on Lewis Wanjala for Eric Muriithi a minute before half time but still South Africa took the lead going to the break.
At the start of the second half, Kenya coach pulled out keeper George Ouma for Ahmed Omar who got his first game of the tournament but the rout continued in the second half.
Bonga Dladla Thembelani scored the fourth goal for South Africa from another well taken free kick to seal the win.
