The Nigeria U-17 Women’s team have qualified for the 5th FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after they pipped hosts South Africa 1-0 at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa on Saturday.
Skipper Rasheedat Ajibade scored the only goal in Saturday’s game to progress to the World Cup with a 7-0 aggregate scoreline.
The Bantwana had no way whatsoever back into the fixture, and must have been grateful for the low scoreline outside Johannesburg as the Flamingos missed a flurry of chances.
Ajibade’s goal was her eighth in four qualifying matches, having netted three in both legs in the 9-0 whiplash of Namibia.
The 5th FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will take place in Jordan between 30th September and 21st October this year. Nigeria has never failed to qualify for the finals since the competition was launched in 2008.
