Somali Football Federation [SFF] has released the fixtures for the country’s National League that is set to run from December 28th 2015 until February 24th 2016.
According to the fixtures, the 10-team league will have Dekedda FC take on the police side Heegan FC who are the current champions in the first match.
The matches in the league will be played on weekdays so as to allow fans time to watch major world leagues on weekends as decided by the federation.
“As we know more than 95% of our people are football-loving people, so we came to the decision to play our league matches Monday to Friday. We did this so that they can have the time to watch football games around the world which are mostly played in the weekends” the SFF media officer, Shafi’i Mohyaddin Abokar, said in his press release.
The media officer assured of better competitive levels in the 2015-16 season with all the matches set to be played at the Banadir Stadium.
“All the 10 clubs in the National League have been making preparations for the past several months. The number of foreign players in the country has also increased with many teams transferred foreign professionals” he said.
Somalia recently had the first ever live TV broadcast of a local match, the General Da’ud Cup final pitting Horseed against Heegan. Horseed won the clash 2 – 1.
