Senegal international Demba Ba has undergone a successful surgery following a horrific leg fracture suffered during a Chinese Super League game last week.

Ba suffered a broken leg in a Chinese Super League derby involving his side Shanghai Shenshua and SIPG.

Meanwhile, Ba’s surgeon Olivier Bringer is confident that the Senegal striker will return to competition, saying his team of doctors had the experience of performing such operations.

“I know Ba is doing well in this club, and I’m sure he will be able to recover and play football again. “In a few months, he will have the possibility of making a comeback. He is a tough guy and I’m sure he will be able to go over this difficulty.”

“We are used to such surgeries. My team’s done it many times in France. We’ve also worked with Real Madrid, so we are experienced.” Bringer is quoted as saying on Weibo.

The surgery for Ba’s fractured leg was scheduled for 8am on Saturday and reports say it took Bringer and his crew three hours, 15 minutes to carry out the opreation.

Shenhua lost 1-2 away to Shijiazhuang Ever Bright in Hebei Province in the CSL in their last game since his absence.
