Italy head coach Giampiero Ventura says out of favor Italy international striker Balotelli is “at a crossroads” in his career.
Balotelli who scored three goals in 23 games at the San Siro last season has been told by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp that he needs to find a new club.
And Ventura who was named the new manager of the Azzurris following the exit of Antonio Conte after the Euros believes Balotelli could still do much with his career despite hsi present situation where he appears to be unwanted by clubs.
“In terms of his character, he could do much better,” Ventura said.
“The fact he’s not playing at Milan, that Liverpool have abandoned him, means that he is at a crossroads.
“The few times that Balotelli has really wanted to be a footballer, he has shown his quality. I have no prejudice, but his football must do the talking.”
Balotelli has 33 caps for his country but was left out of Italy’s Euro 2016 squad after a disappointing season on loan at AC Milan.
In what could be a warning to the former Mancehster City man, Ventura also made it clear that players who move to ‘lesser leagues’ risk damaging their international careers. His warning comes on the heels of former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle joining Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng.
