The Reds have scouted Barcelona player and next star, 15-year-old Sergio Gomez at a tournament in the United Arab Emirates. According to Spanish media MARCA, Liverpool will be going all-out to clinch his signature ahead of the likes of Arsenal who made a similar deal when they got Cesc Fabregas a decade ago.

Barcelona’s exposed for teenagers because they cannot offer the type of contracts that Premier League sides can due to the rules in La Liga.

Hector Bellerin, Gerard Pique and Sergi Canos are a few players that moved to the EPL from Barcelona in the past.

However Liverpool fans need to be cautious even if they do clinch the deal in the summer. A number of star teenage signings from Spain haven’t worked out for them in the past, despite much promise.

Jesus Suso even became the best player in Liverpool’s youth and reserve team from a young age, but failed to convince three managers in Roy Hodgson, Kenny Dalglish and Brendan Rodgers that he could be a regular in the first team. For the first two he was young, and the crunch time was under Rodgers, a manager known to give chances to youngsters so it was strange that he couldn’t get a look in, despite impressing in pre-season tours.
