£54million Manchester United summer target Saul Niguez who has been a key figure at Atletico Madrid and appeared in the Champions League final against Real has been left out of the Spain squad along with Real Madrid’s Isco.
Isco and and the Atletico Madrid forward were dropped from Spain’s 23-man squad for Euro 2016 as Hector Bellerin replaced the injured Dani Carvajal in a final squad list released by head coach Vincente del Bosque.
Having initially picked a 19-man squad, manager Vicente del Bosque named his final four players on Tuesday with Sergio Ramos, Juanfran, Lucas Vazquez and Koke – who also appeared in the showpiece at the San Siro on Saturday – all making the final 23.
Nineteen of the 23 men had been named earlier on Tuesday as they also travelled to Salzburg for the friendly against South Korea 24 hours later, with six spots to be filled by Real Madrid and Atletico players following the Champions League final last Sunday.
Isco and Saul were the players tipped to be chopped and it turned out to be so as Sergio Ramos, Juanfran, Lucas Vazquez and Koke have been selected to complete the travelling party.
Bellerin’s place in France was confirmed after Dani Carvajal’s thigh injury at the weekend final denied him of a first major tournament, the right-back having also missed the 2014 World Cup.
