Misbehaving Sandro handed one – match ban

Gor Mahia FC

Gor Mahia FC’s Italian fitness trainer Sandro Fantoni has been slapped with a one – match ban for behavior termed to be unsporting, as ruled by the Independent Disciplinary and Complaints Committee (IDCC) following a complaint filed by the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) to the committee.

The Italian is a known controversial figure especially during Gor Mahia matches and has more than once been sent to the stands while at some point he stripped half naked apparently getting ready to fight a match official.

After the complaint by KPL, the IDCC has banned the coach from accessing the stadium or its environs when Gor Mahia takes on Sofapaka in the Sunday 25 September league game. He has also been asked to keep his temper and reactions in check in coming matches or he will be served stiffer penalties.

“Mr. Fantoni will serve a period of exclusion for one match being the immediate next Gor Mahia FC match following this decision. For that match Mr. Fantoni shall not be allowed within any area of the applicable stadium.

“Mr. Fantoni is further put on notice to review and temper his actions/reactions and that any reference to this committee for misconduct within this season if proved shall attract stiffer penalties,” the IDCC ruling read as posted on the KPL website, kpl.co.ke.
