France international and Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti claims that facing the trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar in training has already improved his game.
Umtiti who has just four caps for France has settled in nicely at Barcelona with impressive displays but he puts it down to the Catalans ability to destroy opponents with their forwards who ease the pressure at the back.
“I like to play against Messi, Neymar and Suarez in training,” Umtiti told Cadena SER.
“It’s a plus, and in the games I notice it.”
The 22-year-old reserved special praise for Messi, saying the Argentina international was the world’s best.
“Messi is as good in games. He’s the best in the world,” he said. “He’s a phenomenon.”
Umtiti may follow team-mates Neymar and Messi in dying his hair blonde but for a prize: “If we win the Champions League, I’ll go blonde.”
Umtiti joined Barcelona from Lyon in June in a deal reportedly worth €25million.
