Shabana FC midfielder Samuel Otieno will be out of action for 365 days after being handed a one year ban for head butting the first assistant referee in his team’s National Super League (NSL) clash with Modern Coast Rangers on Sunday 19 June in Mombasa.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed receiving the complaint against the player in the report from the match officials and FKF CEO Robert Muthomi, confirms the club has been furnished with the information.

The player will henceforth not be allowed to take part in any FKF affiliated competition or join an FKF affiliated team within the period of his ban.

“We are in receipt of the center referee’s and match commissioner’s reports for match number 41 Modern Coast versus Shabana F.C,” said FKF CEO Robert Muthomi.

“In the report, the referee stated that on the 83rd minute Shabana FC player Samuel Otieno, License number 1257 head butted the first assistant referee and was sent off for violent conduct.

“As such we have written to the club informing them that Otieno has been suspended for a year for his actions and is barred from participating in any FKF affiliated club or competition,” explained the CEO.

The ban for Otieno is the second in the year after George Opiyo, then playing for KCB was slapped with a similar suspension for violent conduct directed at the center referee in the game against Zoo Kericho.
