Sports betting firm Sportpesa has entered into a five year deal with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to be the federation’s official betting partner.
The agreement between the two was unveiled earlier on Thursday 30 June at the Villa Rosa Kempiski Hotel in Nairobi and though no financial details were divulged, the deal is said to be worth Kshs 70m a year.
The Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri said at the event that his company is committed to ensuring Kenyan football develops from the grass root level thus the deal.
He reiterated the firm’s commitment to supporting the federation and the dream to have Kenya qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and termed this a new beginning.
“This partnership is geared towards our ambitious vision of having Kenya represented in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar; a feat that can only be fulfilled if we partner with the federation to resuscitate grass root football to feed the national teams.
“We want to go to the grass roots and work with the federation to build a new generation of stars.
“At Sportpesa, we wish to reiterate that we will work with the federation to recreate what Kenya has lost over the years at national level and today marks a big day for Kenyan football, marking the beginning of achieving the great dream of 2022 World Cup,” he said.
