Chemelil Sugar midfielder Hillary Echesa has been named the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Player of the Month for July after starring for the team in the month.
The team has had a great run in the second half of the season and the midfielder has been a major player, netting three crucial goals in the month of July, placing him at an advantage.
He scored the winners against AFC Leopards and Sofapaka and a last minute equalizer against Tusker to save the team from a 1 – 2 loss at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.
In the voting by SJAK Football Committee, the midfielder beat City Stars forward Ezekiel Odera, AFC Leopards keeper Ian Otieno and Ulinzi Stars striker John Mark Makwatta to bag the gong.
For his recognition, the former Sofapaka man got a Kshs 100,000 reward, a 43 – inch LG Television and a personalized trophy while his team got Kshs 50,000 as the reward for his exploits.
His team is currently fifth on the KPL log and after being in the relegation zone for most of the first leg, the millers can dare to dream of a top half finish, or even the title and it is all thanks to contribution from players such as Echesa.
