Manchester United should go ahead and splash the reported £100m on Paul Pogba as he is worth every penny of it, so says former United defender, Phil Neville.
Pogba has been linked with a return to Old Trafford all summer for a world record fee of £100m, with mixed reactions trailing the reported sum United are willing to pay on their former player.
Neville is however of the opinion that his old club should go ahead and get the Frenchman, as he believes he is one of the top players in the world at the moment.
“I think so. I think you are getting one of the best midfield players in the world,” Neville told Sky Sports when asked if the Juventus star was worth the money.
“I think you are getting someone who is not going to dominate a game on the ball like a Xabi Alonso or a Paul Scholes but is going to go from box to box. His physicality is always something that has stood out.”
The Juventus midfielder is still on holidays in the United States but reports from England have insisted he has agreed to return to United.
The 23-year old left Old Trafford in 2012 under acrimonious circumstances and has since gone on to become a star at Juventus, winning consecutive Serie A titles as well as helping France reach the final of the Euros earlier this summer.
And Neville believes Pogba could be the man to be United’s next big star.
“Even when he was younger at the academy at Man United, he was always bigger than everybody else, he was always quicker than everybody else, he was always more powerful.
“He will give the Man United midfield that power and that stature that I think they have missed for the last two or three seasons.”
