Oshoala, others deserved FA Cup win – Arsenal boss

Arsenal Ladies, Women's FA Cup

Arsenal Ladies boss Pedro Martinez Losa says his squad which has Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala as its striker were phenomenal and worthy winners of the Women’s FA Cup.

Dan Carter scored the deciding goal against Chelsea in a game Oshoala bagged 88 minutes of action, curling into the top corner to help Arsenal Ladies win the competition for a record 14th time.

A delighted Losa who was winning his first Women’s FA Cup title was delighted with the Nigerian international and her team-mates’ performance.

“The players were phenomenal and this group of players really deserved it. I’m really happy for them and for my staff. We’ve made the fans proud and we can keep going now.

“We won the way we wanted to play, and we were also capable, with our character and personality, of suffering in the last five minutes. It’s a winning mentality.

“The players are proud to play for this club and the performance shows the potential we have at this club, especially playing against big teams like that one. I hope the fans felt proud.

“I have to say thank you very much to them. I hope they enjoyed the game, I hope we made them proud, I hope we can make them proud in the future, and I hope they can feel proud of our players, the way we play and the way we beat Chelsea.” Losa told Arsenal Player.

It only took her 18 minutes Carter’s to make her mark, curling a spectacular opener past Hedvig Lindahl from a tight angle

Oshoala and Josephine Henning were unable to take their chances to ease the strain on the defence, and Chelsea soon mounted a late aerial onslaught on the Gunners’ penalty box but the former Rivers Angels striker and her troops players were equal to it, holding out to secure a well-deserved win and become only the second team to lift the trophy at Wembley.
