FKF condoles with family of fallen ref


The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Referees Committee has sent the condolence message to late referee Paul Kariuki’s family and friends following the untimely demise on Wednesday 24 February after a suffering stomach complications.

The referee had a major surgery in December 2015 to help solve a problem in his stomach but at the start of the year it became serious and he succumbed.

In the committee’s condolence message, the fallen referee who leaves behind a widow and two children, is described as a committed match official who will be greatly missed.

Here’s the statement from the federation:

The Football Kenya Federation Referees Committee has learned with profound shock the untimely death on Friday last week of Mr Paul Kariuki a Class 1 referee who hailed from Elburgon after an illness.

Mr Tony Kweya the Chair of the National Referees Committee described Paul who was based in the Central Rift  FKF branch as a very committed referee whose services will be greatly missed.

On behalf of the football family and in particular from the refereeing community we send our condolences to members of his family and many friends.

The late Paul Kariuki will be laid to rest on Thursday 3rd March 2016.
