Chelsea could recall Patrick Bamford from his loan spell at Crystal Palace in the January window to compete with Diego Costa in January fueling speculations that Radamel Falcao will be shipped out.
The England Under-21 star has struggled to break into the Eagles’ first-team plans since his summer arrival and has played just 16 minutes in the Premier League this term.
While Bamford’s only start came in the Capital One Cup, the Blues loaned the 22-year-old out to Alan Pardew’s team in the belief that he would more than likely lead their attack.
But, according to the Standard, Chelsea are worried that Bamford’s development may be dealt a blow by sitting on the bench, meaning the striker could return to west London in January.
It is unclear whether Mourinho would opt to keep Bamford or immediately loan the youngster out once again, but there will be a number of potential suitors should the latter happen.
One of those clubs could be Middleborough, where Bamford bagged 17 goals in 36 appearances last term on his way to winning Championship Player of the Year.
Bamford recently signed a new five year deal at Stamford Bridge.
