AFCON 2017 Qualifiers: Super Eagles defender out injured

Injured Super Eagles and Enugu Rangers defender Orji Kalu failed to train with the rest of his colleagues on Wednesday even as the national team intensifies preparations at the Abuja training camp for the upcoming AFCON 2017 qualifying games against the Pharaohs of Egypt.

As reported on, aside the injured Kalu, the other 18 players invited from the home front were all part of the morning two-hour training session supervised by interim Eagles boss, Samson Siasia

“Orji is the only player who did not train today (Wednesday) because he picked up a knock during his team’s last league game against Wikki Tourists,” said team spokesman Toyin Ibitoye.

Recall that the former Heartland star was a late arrival to the CHAN Eagles training camp last year after he suffered chicken pox.

The Eagles are training twice daily at the Abuja National Stadium as the momentum gathers ahead of two crucial AFCON qualifiers against Egypt later this month.
