Nigerian youth international Taiwo Awoniyi is happy with life at German second division outfit FSV Frankfurt and delighted with his debut for the club during a friendly against Bundesliga side Mainz 05.
Frankfurt Manager Tomas Oral handed the 18-year-old forward his first taste of action against Bundesliga side Mainz 05 in a friendly played last week Thursday during the international break.
Awoniyi who is currently on loan from premier league side, Liverpool impressed in the encounter and showed no fear as his pace troubled the backline of the very experienced opponents – a good sign which may land him a competitive debut sooner rather than later.
Speaking to 366football.com, he said: ‘Liverpool is a great club with senior players and good side to watch but the loan (to FSV Frankfurt) idea is to help me learn a lot in developing myself for good and towards fitting into the club plans.‘All praise to God.’
The number 20 who was on the bench when Frankfurt lost 0-4 at home to FC Heidenheim revealed: ‘When your team loses naturally you become unhappy over it because everyone feels good when victorious.’
Awoniyi will be hoping to get his first competitive debut for Frankfurt when they travel to face Nuernberg at the weekend.
