The Kenyan national team Harambee Stars will not be in competitive action for some time now, owing to the elimination from the 2018 World Cup qualifiers at the second round as well as the completion of the qualifiers for the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
However, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) will not allow the team to stay idle just because of that, as the FKF president Nick Mwendwa has assured of continued support with a lot of international activity to keep the team in shape.
The last five matches for the team have seen the side register a lot of improvement and Mwendwa knows for the continued progress, the team has to get involve in many more international matches to be ready for the AFCON 2019 qualifiers as well as the 2018 CHAN tournament, which Kenya will host.
“We will be out of competitive action for some time but we will continue building the team for the busy times ahead. There are qualifiers coming in June next year and there is CHAN coming so there is a lot of work to be done
“The most immediate activity for us will be the CECAFA Senior Challenge and that one we want to win, it is that simple,” he said.
