MFM forward Newman Musa has revealed that he prayed and fasted for the goal he scored against his former team, Sunshine Stars on Wednesday.
Musa scored the first goal of the encounter played at the Agege Stadium as he helped MFM side to a hard fought 2-1 win over the Akure Gunners.
“I’m happy with my second goal of the season, I have been praying, I even fasted for this game because I have been expecting this to come and I give glory to God that I scored against my former team,” the former Nembe City attacker said.
He continued: “I’m very very happy that my dream came to pass. I played for Sunshine last season in the first round, I was part of the team and playing regularly but everything changed in the second round.
“So I had to leave and come back home to my club because I once played for MFM in the lower division, I have been working very hard, and playing against my former team, Sunshine Stars, I had to give it my best shot and I’m happy my effort paid off because without the goal it would have amounted to nothing. I give glory to God for giving me the goal.”
Newman has made four appearance so far for the Lagos-based team.
