Nigerian side Nasarawa United are through to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup after they held Senegalese side Generation Foot to a goalless draw in Dakar.
The Lafia based team defeated the second division club 2-1 a forthnight ago and needed at least a draw to secure a place into the next round of the competition while a goal will be enough for Generation Foot.
The homeside started the game on fire as coach Jabi Fall had instructed the team to get an early goal to swing the tie in their favour but the Nigerian held firm with the backline led by Emmanuel Makama putting on a solid show.
It will be recalled that Nasarawa lost their first match of the season in the Nigerian Professional Football League to newcomers MFM but with a solid outing in the continent their confidence will be restored. Nasarawa will now face Algeria’s CS Constantine next month.
