Obala declares candidature for Nairobi West Branch

Super Eight Tournament coordinator Arthunus Obala has made clear his intention to vie for the chairman’s post in the Nairobi West branch in the coming Football Kenya Federation (FKF) elections slated for November.

Obala, vastly experienced in football management will be looking to position himself on the backdrop on his massive experience and he says he will be entering the race in view of changing the face of Nairobi football for the better.

His first agenda in office, he says, will be to professionalize the Nairobi leagues and package them to specifically attract sponsors as well as make them competitive enough for teams taking part.

“I have over 20-years experience as football administrator and coach and I thought it was high time I changed Nairobi Football for the better and hence decided to vie for the top seat in Nairobi West Branch. If elected, I promise to professionalize the leagues and make them attractive to sponsors. At the moment the teams play but have nothing to look forward to at the end of the season.

“I have been the Chief Coordinator of the Super Eight Tournament and the success is proof enough of what I’m capable of. I urge the delegates to ensure they vote in competent leaders both Nairobi West and East so that we take back Nairobi to the football map like it was before,” he said.

To get to the helm at Nairobi West branch, Obala will have to overcome the challenge posed by two other aspirants – Noordin Taib and Bashir Hussein.

The branch polls will be conducted on Thursday 5 November.
