It was a brilliant debut in Turkey for Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi who grabbed a brace as his new club Trabzonspor smashed Kasimpasa 2-0 on the opening day of the 2016/17 season and he wasted no time in dedicating the goals to his lovely wife Sandra.
The 23-year-old gave the club supporters a glimpse of what to expect throughout the season when he opened scoring in the 20th minute to give Trabzonspor a first half lead over Kasimpasa who had Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo on loan last season.
Onazi followed it up with his second on the dot of 90 minutes to seal victory. He was full of energy and made important tackles from midfield which won the hearts of many fans as they cheered loudly but his own heart belonged to only one person who he revealed was his inspiration.
“My wife told me before I left for the game that I should score for her which I said Amen to and it’s only right that I dedicate the goals to her,” the former Lazio star said.
The former My People FC star also thanked his teammates for their support when he tweeted later in the day, he wrote: “When the grace of God speaks favour begins to come, thanks to my team mate, #debut2goals #debut2goals”
Onazi joined Trabzonspor this summer after five years with Serie A giants Lazio where he scored six times from 77 appearances.
