The Football Kenya Federation has confirmed that the first leg of the 2018 World Cup qualifier pitting Kenya versus Cape Verde will be played Friday 13 November at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Kenya will be starting at home in the second round after seeing off Mauritius in the first round though the FKF CEO Michael Esakwa revealed that the Cape Verde side is yet to confirm the return leg date but the match should not go beyond November 17.
“The match will be played at Kasarani and all plans towards the same are in top gear. We expect to have the full squad in camp by November 9 which is the official start of the FIFA calendar. We should be able to play the return leg latest November 17,” Esakwa said.
The team’s technical bench will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) to deliberate on issues pertaining to the game, which includes coming up with the team to be called for duty.
Kenya last played Cape Verde in 2003 in Nairobi, winning 1-0 to qualify for the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia. Kenya topped its group, losing only one match, away to Togo.
