African Player of the Year moves to Belgium


Tanzanian international Mbwana Ally Samatta, the 2015 African Player of the Year among players playing in the continent, has joined Belgian giants RC Genk.

The striker, who was the leading scorer in the 2015 CAF Champions League, agreed to a two – year deal with the Belgian side.

He had a conclusive medical test and speaking after signing the deal, he thanked his former employers, TP Mazembe for the steps he has made so far.

“Mazembe took me while I was still young and made me who I am today. I want to thank them for everything and wish all the best,” Samatta said.

In the Belgian league, Samatta joins another East African player, Ugandan Farouk Miya, who just completed the move to Standard Liege.
