Mario Suárez has completed a move to join Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo at Watford from Fiorentinna.
Suarez who is a product of Atlético Madrid’s youth setup made loan moves to Real Valladolid and Celta Vigo during his early playing days, before completing a permanent switch to RCD Mallorca in 2008. He moved in July 2015 to Fiorentina, where he has played 13 times this season in both Serie A and the Europa League.
An official statement on the Hornets’ website reads;
“WATFORD FC is delighted to confirm the signature of Spanish international midfielder Mario Suárez.
“The 28-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Hornets and joins from Italian Serie A side Fiorentina for an undisclosed fee.”
After signing for Mallorca, he went on to feature 64 times for the club before returning to Atlético in a €1.8m transfer two years later where he enjoyed a huge amount of success at the Vicente Calderón Stadium, winning the La Liga title and finishing Champions League runners-up in 2013/14, as well as securing the Europa League and Copa del Rey trophies in 2011/12 and 2012/13 respectively.

Suárez has three international caps for Spain, the most recent of which came against the Netherlands last March.
