Olympiacos has won their sixth consecutive Greek Super League following their comprehensive 3-0 defeat against Veria today.
The Greek giants achieved a record 43rd title with time with six matches remaining. A feat master-minded by manager Marco Silva, who has overseen 22 wins, one draw and one defeat from his team’s 24 league games, also in his debut season like the Nigerian, Brown Ideye.
David Fuster netted a brace in a game the home side dominated while Alan Pulido sealed the win with a late finish to take them 21 points clear of second-placed AEK Athens, who only have seven games left to play and have a weaker head-to-head record.
With this title, Olympiacos have now won the title for six straight seasons and an astonishing 18 times from the last 20 campaigns.
Ideye was shipped out by premier league side West Brom after he failed to impress but has consistently produced the goods for his Greek side which may just be enough to earn him a recall to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
