There have been some wonderful quotes coming out both the Bidvest Wits and the Mamelodi Sundowns camps ahead of Saturday’s MTN8 final in Mbombela (17H00 kick off).
Bidvest midfielder Sifiso Myeni, who won the Nedbank Cup with the Clever Boys in his first spell at the club:
“This is a completely new club that I have come back to the only people that are the same are the ladies who cook.
“We have a really good squad and everyone works hard for one another. The last time the club has won anything was the Nedbank Cup in 2010 and I was a part of the team back then and I am excited to be a part of the MTN8 final now.
“It’s all about us and how hard we work to play. Beating Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates is in the past. We worked hard in all our previous matches and that is what we have to do on Saturday.”
Mamelodi Sundowns forward Anthony Laffor:
“We need to keep our feet on the ground and focus on the game on Saturday. It’s not going to be easy in the [CAF Champions League] final but we have another game on Saturday. We need to concentrate before we think about the CAF final.
“On what George did I will never ever compare myself to George,” he said in regards to comparisons with countryman George Weah. “I am Anthony.”
Bidvest Wits midfielder Xola Mlambo:
“Anything is possible, I didn’t have high expectations [when I joined the club] but with hard work and support it can definitely pan out for you. It is important to be in a first cup final. A lot of PSL players haven’t played in a final. Even though I haven’t been in the Premier League long, it is a blessing for me.”
Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise:
“We plan accordingly whenever there is a competition that we are playing in and the first thing that the coach said to us was that this is a trophy that we don’t usually do well in,” he told Kick Off.
“[The coach] then told us that all we need to do is make sure we are in the finals and then take it from there. We are now in the final and up against a very good team on Saturday, this is one trophy that is very important for the team. Within the next three weeks we are in a position to make history and get to be the best Mamelodi Sundowns team ever.”
