The Kenya national Under-17 team was eliminated from sthe ongoing COSAFA U17 Championship in Mauritius after suffering a 0 – 5 defeat to Malawi in their last Group B game played on Tuesday 26 July in Port Louis.
Kenya badly needed a win after the 2 – 1 win over Madagascar on Sunday and ends Kenya’s targets at the tournament, bowing out with three points to show.
Reigning champions Zambia together with Malawi progressed from the group on nine and six points respectively.
Frank Chizuze scored the opener on the 19th minute heading home a cross from Francisco Madinga in the only goal of the first half.
In the second half, Peter Banda beat two defenders and Kenya keeper George Ouma in to double the scores and the third goal came on the 59th minute, through Banda who completed his brace on the day with the goal.
The rout continued with Madinga’s goal on the 64th minute before Peter Banda registered his hat-trick on the 89th minute.
In another Group B tie, Siwale Mwiza’s goal and a brace from George Nyimbili saw Zambia beat Madagascar 3 – 0 to finish top of the group on nine points.
