Barcelona’s coach Luis Enrique has taken the blame for the team’s Champions League exit

Luis Enrique’s dream for a second treble on his second season as Barcelona boss went up in smoke on Wednesday 13 April as the Spanish giants, the holders of the UEFA Champions League title were bundled out of Europe by Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid.

The former Barcelona player guided the team to win all available trophies on his debut season but his second season has lately been crumbling and after the 0 – 2 loss on Wednesday, he has taken the blame for the loss.

He admitted in the post match interviews that his team is not at its best but called on a quick recovery to salvage what remains of the season.

“The team are sad. We aren’t at our best at the moment nor our most effective.

“The thought of winning the Champions League again excited all Barca fans but it wasn’t to be.

“It’s evident that we are in a hole. I’m 99.9% to blame – no 100. That’s why I am the coach, the most responsible. Everyone can choose the explanation. To give mine I have to analyze the performance. It is not our best time, but it is not the time to be nervous,” he said.
