Nigerian star Igbonu buries dad


Nigerian international Sylvester Igbonu lost his father on Saturday, November 19 and he was laid to rest in his home in Owerri.

The russian based star striker arrived in owerri with top super eagles players , like Izunna uzockwukuwu , Lukman haruna , and othe r top russian based stars and  President-General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Oladipo, among other eminent personalities for the final burial rites of his late father ‎Sir pa basil Chukwuemeka Igbonu, who died.

The bereaved Nigerian international ‎said: “I am currently with my family in country town Amachara umuchima compound in ihiagwa in owerri west local govt area in Imo state for my dad’s final burial, in this grieving moment. My darling dad was my biggest motivation.

“My dad was my best friend. All I have done and all I will do in my life will be to make him proud. I hope I have. I will think of him every minute of every day.

Igbonu made his international début in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification game against Tanzania on 5 September 2015, replacing Moses Simon as a substitute in the 69th minute.
