Bucs management has chosen not to keep former captain Lucky Lekgwathi as a player or coach.

The long serving Pirates legend thought that he could at least play a role behind the scenes at the club.

“His contract will not be renewed because he’s not in Muhsin Ertugral’s plans,” Floyd Mbele told Isolezwe newspaper.

“People should stop giving other people false hope. We won’t be able to hire every retired player simply because they had been with the cub for years,” Mbele added.

Lekgwathi is now aged 40 and has been with Orlando Pirates since 2002, after moving from Ria Stars.

He has 14 caps with Bafana Bafana.
