The Reds put on an amazing performance against Leicester, and manager Jurgen Klopp wants to be sure that it wasn’t just due to being a curtain raiser for their extended stadium at Anfield.

Liverpool’s known to raise their fan voices on big European nights, and a few league games and Klopp has spoken in the past about wanting to hear it for every game.

Now, he’s joked about the impact of the extension, as the Reds played their first game since the extension, by beating Leicester 4-1.

“We could build a new stand every week, that would be absolutely no problem for me.

“It was a wonderful week for the club. Who am I to say ‘come on, we must all focus on the football’? No, the squad have to concentrate on the football.

Then he went on to explain away the mistake by Lucas Leiva that gave Leicester a goal out of nothing.

“Of course it is difficult. I was sure Lucas could (do a job),” he said. “I’m really happy about his performance, he can of course do better but in this situation you need characters like him and it was brilliant.”

“I said it was not Lucas’s mistake but everybody knew it was! I didn’t speak about the goal we conceded, I spoke about the reaction we showed after the goal, that made no sense so that’s what we tried to change in the second half and that’s what we did that was really good.

“In my opinion we can be really good but we have to show that we can still be good when something happens in the game that we don’t want.”

Lucas played out of his natural position in central defense since Dejan Lovren wasn’t unavailable.
