Ogu happy to be Be’ér Shéva’s match-winner


Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder John Ogu is excited to have been the match winner for his side in Sunday’s 2-1 home win over Ironi Kiryat Shmona at the Turner Stadium in Be’ér Shéva.

Ogu who headed home a stoppage time goal to send his side top of the Ligat ha’Al after 13 games was grateful for the support of his club’s fans.

“Thank you Great God for the victory, the goal and my teammates, fans and everyone for the support.”

The 27-year-old was part of the Super Eagle’s Confederations Cup squad but has not played since last November’s 2-2 draw against Italy also revealed that they will be ready to face Beitar Jerusalem in Wednesday’s Toto Cup Ligat Al.

“We want to keep working hard and improving. Now time to focus on another important game coming up on Wednesday. Yalla, Hapoel Beer Sheva.”

Recall the Super Eagles midfielder, Ogu who pulled off a romantic surprise proposal to his girlfriend Chiugo Veronica Akaolisa in November will walk down the aisle with his wife on the 29th of December in Nnewi North in Anambra.

Ogu has played 13 games and scored once so far.

In 2004,the midfielder sealed a four-year deal with Hapoel Be’er Sheva after his contract with Portuguese club Academica de Coimbra was ended by mutual consent.
