El-Kanemi Warriors are excited ahead of a return to their favourite hunting ground in Maiduguri this weekend.
The Desert Warriors were forced out of their preferred home ground in Maiduguri for security reasons but with normalcy back to the region, they’ve now been given the go ahead by the League Management Company (LMC) to host Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matches in front of their die-hard supporters.
The Ladan Bosso led side has struggled for form outside Maiduguri but with the new development they hope their fortunes improve.
“Few weeks ago, we wrote to the League Management Company (LMC) that the state and environment are safe to play football. They made some enquiries and they have approved our return to Maiduguri,” An official of the club informed.
“We will host Shooting Stars this weekend in our home ground and the fans are excited. They have missed league football and we appreciate them.”
El-kanemi are currently placed 16th on the NPFL log with 10 points after losing 1-0 to Rivers United on Wednesday and will begin their redemption on Sunday against the Oluyole Warriors of Ibadan.
