Fit again Real Madrid keeper Keylor Navas has taken the blame for the team’s woes after the latest setback, a 2 – 2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in Germany on Tuesday 27 September.
The keeper was culpable for Dortmund’s first goal as he punched a seemingly easy ball into the back of team mate Raphael Varane, giving Pierre Emerick Aubameyang the chance to equalize just on the stroke of half time.
The error saw the teams head to the break even and though Real Madrid took the lead again in the second half, a late goal saw the sides share spoils.
Speaking of the game, he admitted it was a bad turn for him occasioned by a poor decision but promised to work towards better goalkeeping in the coming games.
“The team put in a great effort. It is evident in the first goal I made a mistake.
“It took me a bit by surprise, I took the wrong decision and it cost us a goal. We will work on those details so it doesn’t happen again.
“I felt calm during the whole game despite the long months I’ve been out. Thanks to god I am back and able to help my team-mates.
“My mentality doesn’t change. I have to train hard, improve and it is the coach’s decision (who plays).” He said.
