The Kenya women national team, Harambee Starlets has dropped by two places in the FIFA rankings released for the third quarter of 2016, falling from the 130th place in the second quarter release, to number 132 in the August release.
The team had fine outings in the past few months including impressive results in the invitational COTIF tournament in Spain and a win over Uganda’s Crested Cranes in an international friendly match staged at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
Neighbors Uganda are ranked 129th in the world, and fourth in the CECAFA region behind Ethiopia who are 109th and Tanzania who are 125th.
Kenya is ranked 25th in Africa.
It is the only team from the region to have qualified for the 2016 African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON.
Nigeria, ranked 37th globally, is the best ranked in Africa, followed by Ghana (46th globally) and Cameroon (47th globally).
