Bandari FC coach Ken Odhiambo was not a very amused man after the match against Kariobangi Sharks in the GOtv Shield quarter final at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday 18 September as his team went down 4 – 5 on post match penalties.
The team played to a 1 – 1 draw with the second tier side before losing 4 – 5 on post match penalties, thereby relinquishing their title, won in the 2015 season at the same venue and the coach lambasted his players for a slow start in the match.
He also blamed the referee for a few decisions he thought should have gone their way.
“We played so badly; especially in the first half. The players who started the match did not stick the game plan we had agreed on because we wanted to deny Sharks space but they did exactly the opposite. Our game only changed when we made the substitutions and it is so disappointing.
“The referee to had a few questionable calls and most of them against my team which also to some extent played a part in the result. But all in all we will turn our focus to the remaining matches in the league and hope to do well,” he said.
