NPFL: Nasarawa boss Dogo congratulates Rivers United

A visibly disappointed Nasarawa United head coach Kabiru Dogo was philosophical in defeat after his lads fell 1-0 to Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

In a tense contest on Sunday between Rivers United and Nasarawa United, a Guy Kuemian lone strike in the fifth minute of second half added time was all the Port Harcourt side needed to claim their third victory of the 2015/16 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

Reacting to his side’s defeat in a game where chances were few and far between as Nasarawa United seemed convinced to defend in numbers, rarely venturing out of their half with real attacking intent, Dogo in a post-match parley said;

“We thank the Almighty God (for the result) and at the same time congratulate Rivers United for their hard-victory because it’s not easy.

“That’s the way God wants it and we take it (the defeat) in good faith,” Dogo said at the post match press.

The defeat leaves Nasarawa United at the bottom of the NPFL log without a point after three games while Rivers United are now placed fifth on the standings with nine points from five matches.

Next up for Nasarawa United is the visit of 11th placed Shootings Stars on Saturday, March 12, 2015 at the Abuja National stadium.
