Rio bound Lamptey picked for Kenya game

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named the referees who will handle the Group E 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying clash pitting Kenya against Congo – Brazzaville scheduled for Sunday 5 June at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani.

All the four match officials to oversee the clash come from Ghana, and will be led by top Ghanaian referee Joseph Odartei Lamptey who is among the referees selected from Africa to officiate at the Rio Olympic Games.

Lamptey will be the center referee in the match, assisted by David Laryea, and Malik Alidu Salifu as the first and second assistants in that order while Hamidu Seidu Bomison will be the fourth official.

Aaron Rurangirwa from Rwanda has been selected to serve as the match commissioner in the game.

In the meantime, the Federation of Kenya Football has also revealed the referees for the friendly match pitting Kenya against Tanzania. Brian Miiro Nsubuga will be center referee while Hussein Bugembe and Ronald Katenya will serve as the first and second assistant referees.
